His music combines his background in the English choral tradition with his love for jazz harmony and groove and he is best known for his grand-scale choral fusion works which draw together singers of all ages.

Professor Adam Hardy is an architect and architectural historian, Emeritus Professor of Asian Architecture at the University of Cardiff and an alumnus of Trinity College, Cambridge.
Regarded as a world authority on Indian temple architecture, Professor Hardy has been studying the subject for over 35 years.
Professor Hardy comes from a family of OWs. His grandfather attended the school in 1903 and his uncle, cousin and two brothers have also been educated here.

RGS Head of Physics, Kevin Watson, studied Natural Sciences at Peterhouse, Cambridge. After graduating he entered the Banking profession.
Between 1987-2002 he was Managing Director in Corporate Finance for several Investment Banks, focusing on Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Australia. During this time he advised the governments of Hungary, Croatia, Lithuania and Poland on the privatisation of their national telecoms and oil & gas industries.
In 2003 he retrained to be a teacher and has been Head of Year & Head of Department for the past 10 years.

Professor Kevin Buzzard is a Professor of Pure Mathematics at Imperial College London, specialising in algebraic number theory and computer proof verification.
After leaving RGS, he obtained a degree in Mathematics from Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was Senior Wrangler (achiever of the highest mark). He was awarded a Whitehead Prize by the London Mathematical Society in 2002 for "his distinguished work in number theory“ and the Senior Berwick Prize in 2008.
Here at RGS, he competed in the International Mathematical Olympiad, where he won a bronze medal in 1986 and a gold medal with a perfect score in 1987.

Iain Purvis QC is Head of Chambers at 11 South Square, Gray's Inn, and described by Chambers Legal Directory as “the first port of call on intellectual property cases”.
Appointed a QC in 2006, Iain is noted as one of the most in demand established silks at the IP Bar. In addition he holds a number of judicial roles.
After leaving RGS, Iain went on to study at Clare College, Cambridge and St Edmund Hall, Oxford.
RGS 1975 - 1981
Josh C. Wright's career as an artist and photographer began whilst he was studying here at RGS. At age 16 he photographed many of Britain's most renowned artists for his series A Portrait of the Artist by a Young Man.
He went on to study at Oxford Brookes University and Camberwell College of Arts and has since exhibited in galleries around the world. Two of his portraits are currently part of the photographic collection at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
Josh is currently an artist-in-residence at Kettle's Yard in Cambridge.
RGS 2005 - 2012
Christian Wade started playing rugby when he joined RGS and went on to play in the Premiership for Wasps. His success led to him becoming the third highest Premiership try-scorer with 82 tries. He was capped for England in 2013 and called up to the British and Irish Lions squad in the same year.
In 2018 he left rugby in the UK for the NFL in the US and in 2019 he was signed as a running back for the Buffalo Bills.

Professor Ronald Laskey FRS CBE, is a cell biologist whose work on DNA replication has been extremely influential in the study of cancer.
His pioneering contributions to the field of cancer research have been recognised by numerous awards, including the 2014 Cancer Research UK Lifetime Achievement Prize. One of the founders of the Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute, he was awarded a CBE in 2011 for his services to science.
He is an alumnus of Queen's College, Oxford.
RGS 1955 - 1962
Sir James Bevan KCMG has been the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency since November 2015. In previous roles he has been the UK High Commissioner to India, Chief Operating Officer at the UK Foreign Office and Visiting Fellow at the Centre for International Affairs, Harvard.
He has also held a number of other senior posts in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Sir James has a BA Honours in Social Anthropology from the University of Sussex.

After leaving RGS, Jon Wyatt studied chemistry at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He graduated in 1996 and in the same year represented GB in the men's hockey team at the Atlanta Olympics. During his hockey career, Jon earned 195 caps and captained both the England and Great Britain teams. In 2000, Jon captained the GB team at the Sydney Olympics.
Following his success as an athlete, Jon began his business career, gaining extensive experience in global sports marketing. He is now the Sport & Development Director of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) based in Lausanne.

After graduating from Oriel College, Oxford, Adam Wood forged a career focused on diplomacy and international development, living and working on four continents seeking to promote peace, security and prosperity, resolve conflict and reduce poverty.
Operating at the highest levels of Government, Adam has held roles including British High Commissioner in Kenya, High Commissioner in Uganda and Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man.
Adam has been a Trustee of Plan International UK since 2017.

Author of 535 scientific journals, he has received many awards locally, nationally & internationally. He is regarded as a world expert in platinum and gold chemistry.

Sir Roger Scruton was a writer and philosopher who published more than forty books in philosophy, aesthetics and politics.
In addition to his is role as a writer and philosopher, Sir Roger taught Philosophy at the University of Buckingham.
He was a fellow of the British Academy, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and an alumnus of Jesus College, Cambridge. He died in January, 2020.

Peter Keen is Chairman of Royal Warrant Holder and award-winning luxury mattress and bed manufacturer, Hypnos and the fourth generation of his family to run the business. Based locally, Hypnos now employs over 600 people nationally.
During his career he has held a number of industry and charitable roles including Master of the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, President of the Windsor Royal Warrant Holders Association & Trustee of the Bucks Community Foundation.
Commenting on his success Peter said:

Vice Admiral Wilkinson is the Chairman of Seafarers UK, and formerly a trustee of the Armed Forces Memorial Appeal and President of the Royal British Legion.

Besides his work as a writer and publisher, Philip is a talented jazz pianist. He plays regularly at the 606 Club with his band the Philip Dodd Quartet and he is a founding member of the Groucho Club.
Philip read modern languages at Jesus College, Oxford.

Robert Madelin is the Chairman of Fipra International Ltd, a global public affairs advisory firm operating in 50 countries around the world.
Prior to Fipra, Robert served as a public servant in both the UK and the EU, notably as Director General of the European Commission's telecommunications policy and regulatory arm, 'DG CONNECT'.
Robert holds a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Centre for Technology and Global Affairs of the University of Oxford.
RGS 1968 - 1975
Sir John Dellow CBE became a police officer at the age of 30 and was the Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police from 1987 – 1991. Sir John commanded the police operation in the Iranian Embassy Siege in 1980.
Sir John joined RGS during the Second World War after leaving his North London home following a bombing. He was knighted in 1990.

Miles Nurnberger used his passion and talent for art and creativity to great effect after leaving RGS, gaining an honours degree in transport design from the University of Coventry before working in the car industry where he holds the position of Director of Design at car manufacturer Aston Martin Lagonda.
Prior to joining Aston Martin Lagonda, Miles worked for car manufacturers Citroen and Ford and spent time working in California as the designer of the Lincoln Mercury.

Lynton Pepper is a photographer, architect, director and co-founder of the YAYA shortlisted architecture and strategic design firm 00.
In 2015, RIBA awarded The Foundry, designed by Lynton, the prestigious accolade, London Building of the Year.
He is an alumnus of the University of Bath.
RGS 1991 - 1997
After graduating from Jesus College, Cambridge with a degree in geography, Chris began his career in marketing, working for companies including Procter & Gamble, British Airways and ASDA.
In 2006, Chris moved into banking, taking up leadership positions including as CEO of First Direct and, latterly, as CEO of Yorkshire Building Society.
He is currently a non-executive director of Barclays Bank UK plc and Musgrave plc, Ireland's largest company operating in Ireland, NI & Spain.
Chris is also Chairman of Yorkshire 2019 Ltd, who organised the cycling Road World Championships that took place in September, 2019.
RGS 1977 - 1983
Before becoming a politician, Chris had a career in media and PR working for both the BBC and Channel 4 before joining global PR firm, Burson Marsteller.
He was elected Conservative MP for Epsom and Ewell in 2001 and has held a number of Government and shadow front bench posts including as Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Transport, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice and Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons.
Chris has a BA in History from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
RGS 1975 - 1980
Matt Dawson retired from his career as a professional rugby union player in 2006 having played scrum half for Northampton Saints and then London Wasps. During his international career he toured with the British and Irish Lions three times and was part of England's 2003 Rugby World Cup winning side. He won 77 caps for his country in total, including nine as captain.
Since retiring from professional Rugby, Matt has moved into business and is a director of multiple companies. He is also seen regularly on the BBC as team captain on A Question of Sport and presents and commentates for BBC radio.
RGS 1985 - 1991
Nick Beal retired from his career as a professional rugby union player in 2004 having played fullback for Northampton Saints for 13 years. In addition to his 15 England caps Nick was selected for the British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa in 1997 and was part of the England Sevens squad that won the world title in 1993.
Nick is now Managing Director of David Williams IFA and has been a member of the Board of Directors at Northampton Saints since 2007.

Lord Ashcroft KCMG PC is an international businessman, philanthropist, author and pollster. He is a lifelong supporter of the Conservative Party and was a member of the House of Lords from 2000 – 2015.

Paul Kenyon is a BAFTA-winning journalist, presenter and author who has reported from around the world for the BBC.
For twenty years he has covered wars and revolutions and is often asked to speak on the topic of immigration, which became a specialism after he filmed the world's most dangerous migration route from Africa into Europe.
He made four films on the journey, and won the Royal Television Society's Specialist Reporter of the Year award in 2010.

OW Martin Gillingham is a broadcaster, journalist, media consultant and Olympian.
As an athlete, Martin had a career that saw him represent GB at the 1984 Olympic Games and 1987 World Championships in the 400m hurdles.
Martin is now best known for his rugby and athletics commentary for major broadcasters including ITV, BBC, Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Paul Stinchcombe QC was called to the Bar in 1985 after graduating from Cambridge University with a Double First in Law and from Harvard Law School with a Masters. He built up a substantial practice in planning, public and environmental law before becoming a Labour MP in 1997.
After returning to the Bar in May 2005, Paul rapidly re-built his practice and was elevated to Queen's Counsel within 6 years. Paul has appeared in some of the largest Planning Inquiries regarding housing proposals in the country, acting both for and against developers.
RGS 1972 - 1979
After gaining a first class degree from the University of Oxford, Tom Ravenscroft trained as a teacher and joined Cardinal Pole School in Hackney. His experience in the classroom led to Enabling Enterprise, an organisation he founded to provide teaching programmes designed to ensure that all students leave school equipped with the full set of employability skills, experiences of the world, and aspirations to be successful.
Enabling Enterprise now works with over 125,000 children and young people from the age of 6 through to 19 across 540 schools in England.
RGS 1998 - 2004
Professor Michael Zander QC is Emeritus Professor at LSE where he taught for nearly 40 years after obtaining Double First Class Honours at Jesus College, Cambridge and a Masters at Harvard.
For 25 years he was also Legal Correspondent of The Guardian. He was made an Honorary QC in 1997. He was a member of the Royal Commission on Criminal Justice (1991-93).
The citation of the honorary degree he was awarded in 2010 by King's College, London said: “There is no greater authority in the fields to which he has devoted himself. The central mission of his professional life has been to make the justice system work better.”
RGS 1946 - 1951
Miles Nurnberger used his passion and talent for art and creativity to great effect after leaving RGS, gaining an honours degree in transport design from the University of Coventry before working in the car industry where he holds the position of Director of Design at car manufacturer Aston Martin Lagonda.
Prior to joining Aston Martin Lagonda, Miles worked for car manufacturers Citroen and Ford and spent time working in California as the designer of the Lincoln Mercury.
RGS 1985 - 1992
Lynton Pepper is a photographer, architect, director and co-founder of the YAYA shortlisted architecture and strategic design firm 00.
In 2015, RIBA awarded The Foundry, designed by Lynton, the prestigious accolade, London Building of the Year.
He is an alumnus of the University of Bath.
RGS 1991 - 1997
After graduating from Jesus College, Cambridge with a degree in geography, Chris began his career in marketing, working for companies including Procter & Gamble, British Airways and ASDA.
In 2006, Chris moved into banking, taking up leadership positions including as CEO of First Direct and, latterly, as CEO of Yorkshire Building Society.
He is currently a non-executive director of Barclays Bank UK plc and Musgrave plc, Ireland's largest company operating in Ireland, NI & Spain.
Chris is also Chairman of Yorkshire 2019 Ltd, who organised the cycling Road World Championships that took place in September, 2019.

Before becoming a politician, Chris had a career in media and PR working for both the BBC and Channel 4 before joining global PR firm, Burson Marsteller.
He was elected Conservative MP for Epsom and Ewell in 2001 and has held a number of Government and shadow front bench posts including as Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department of Transport, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice and Lord President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons.
Chris has a BA in History from Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.
RGS 1975 - 1980
Matt Dawson retired from his career as a professional rugby union player in 2006 having played scrum half for Northampton Saints and then London Wasps. During his international career he toured with the British and Irish Lions three times and was part of England's 2003 Rugby World Cup winning side. He won 77 caps for his country in total, including nine as captain.
Since retiring from professional Rugby, Matt has moved into business and is a director of multiple companies. He is also seen regularly on the BBC as team captain on A Question of Sport and presents and commentates for BBC radio.
RGS 1985 - 1991
Nick Beal retired from his career as a professional rugby union player in 2004 having played fullback for Northampton Saints for 13 years. In addition to his 15 England caps Nick was selected for the British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa in 1997 and was part of the England Sevens squad that won the world title in 1993.
Nick is now Managing Director of David Williams IFA and has been a member of the Board of Directors at Northampton Saints since 2007.
